Our History
Founded in 2014 by a committed group of families, board members, and staff, Ascension Classical School began with a vision to bring Christ-centered, classical education to the Shreveport community. What started with one kindergarten class has grown steadily over the years, adding a grade level at a time while remaining rooted in the mission and ideals on which the school was founded.
Today, Ascension serves students from Junior Kindergarten through 12th grade, marking an exciting milestone as we prepare to graduate our first senior class. More than 135 students learn in an environment where they are known, challenged, and encouraged to grow in wisdom and virtue.
Throughout its growth, Ascension has continued to expand opportunities for students while remaining committed to the classical Christian model. Students engage deeply with Latin, literature, history, mathematics, science, fine arts, music, physical education, nature studies, and the Great Books, learning not simply what to think, but how to think with clarity, reason, and discernment.
Beyond the classroom, students have opportunities to grow through athletics, fine arts, leadership, service, and community life. As Ascension enters this next chapter, we remain grateful for the families and supporters who built its foundation and excited for the generations of students who will carry its legacy forward.
